Join Jubila Singers, an open-access community choir on the Central Coast of New South Wales, Australia.
The choir starts on Tuesday October 11 in Erina and Thursday morning October 13 in Terrigal.
Jubila Singers warmly invites you to join us as we sing music in harmony from many cultures in a welcoming and vibrant environment. Our purpose is to bring the joy of singing dynamic and inspiring world music songs to anyone from beginners to seasoned singers.
- no auditions
- no need to read music
- friendly, fun and supportive atmosphere
- opportunity to improve vocal technique
- aim for an excellent choral sound
- no pressure to join in performances, unless you want to!
Jubila Singers will be under the direction of Jane Becktel, who has founded and directed choirs in the USA, the Morningsong Choir and VIV Singers in QLD.
Music-reading skills and singing experience are great assets, but are not necessary to participate. All that we ask is a love of music, a love of learning and a sense of humour.
We will mainly sing a cappella; that is, unaccompanied by instruments. Our group will be a non-denominational singing group. However, beautiful songs from many religions will enter our repertoire because of the nature of traditional polyphonic singing.
Singers are not expected to commit to come every week. We will sing for the joy of singing rather than for performing, but may make the odd public appearance which benefits charities or celebrations agreed upon by the singers. We also plan to join with other community choirs during the year to share songs, food and laughter.
WHEN: Two times are available:
Tuesday evenings in Erina: 6.45 for a 7 pm start. Session ends promptly at 8.45 pm
Thursday mornings in Terrigal: 9.45 for a 10 am start. Session ends promptly at 11.45 am.
